Younis must approach PCB directly to earn his place back in Test squad

Karachi, July 23 (ANI) : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that former captain Younis Khan should approach it directly to be considered for the upcoming four match Test series against England.

PCB’s legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said that Younis, who is currently playing county cricket in England, has not approached the board ever since the appellate tribunal lifted the indefinite ban imposed on him in March.

“You can say his (Younis) case is in remand right now and the PCB can only move forward when he returns from England,” The Daily Times quoted Rizvi, as saying.

He said that only the PCB could consider giving the former captain a chance to play for Pakistan again if he makes his position clear regarding all the cases pending against him.

“The other players have been cleared to play for Pakistan after they approached the board,” he said.

When asked about PCB chairman Ijaz Butt’s remarks that another former captain Mohammad Yousuf need not seek any permission from the PCB for playing for the national side, Rizvi said both the ‘cases were different’.

“There is no need for Yousuf to appeal against the indefinite ban. He has shown his availability and now we are considering him seriously,” Butt had told reporters in Leeds a few couple of days ago. (ANI)
