chenJan 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nathan Chen stood first in the United States Figure Skating Championships this year. He got awarded the gold medal for the Novice Division. This is not the first time win for the skater. He had also been awarded the first prize in the regional and the sectional championships, and also stood second in the Juvenile Division and third in the Intermediate. Only ten years of age, Nathan Chan had been the youngest skater to have competed in the United States Figure Skating Championships. This is the very fact that makes his victory a huge achievement, considering that he had been pitted against skaters far older to him, both in age and experience.

Nathan Chen won in the Novice Division against Emmanuel Savary, the competitor hailing from the University of Delaware. However, this win does not mean that he would be able to take part in the Olympics this year, which is the case for most of the winners. He is too young to be allowed in the Olympics this year, but this fact does not dishearten him, for he hopes to participate in the Olympics of 2018.

Nathan Chen, who hails from Salt Lake City, is a known name in the United States figure skating arena. That showed very well during his performance in the United States figure skating championships. He stumbled on two jumps, but made it up with a double axel, triple toe, triple salchow and double toe. He was obviously elated due to the win, commenting that he had played pretty well, despite having made a few mistakes. Also, he confided, he has his eyes set on the gold medal in the Olympics.
