Young Oz bowling star Hazlewood targeting Christmas comeback

Sydney, Nov 5 (ANI): Emerging fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is targeting a Christmas comeback from a back problem, which has hampered his rise in Australia’s pace attack.

Hazlewood, 19, has already played one limited-overs international and was selected for the recent two-Test tour of India, but had to withdraw after a ‘hot spot’ was found in his back.

Having already successfully recovered from a stress fracture, he was optimistic that he would fully recover and be back in action by the turn of the year.

“It’s good to get it before they found the crack, that obviously shortened the recovery time and I’ve been doing the rehab with the physio, I’ve been doing a fair bit of strength work and fitness,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hazlewood, as saying.

The injury was the first real set back for the NSW bowler, who was a star member of Australia’s under-19 World Cup winning team last season.

Hazlewood wasn’t too upset at missing out on the tour to India.

“It’s probably not a bad thing to miss that India tour, because it’s hard work for the quicks,” Hazlewood said.

“I can probably sit back and realise what I’ve accomplished so far and what I want to do in the near future,” he added. (ANI)
