Young at 32 Lee to pull all stops to win Test spot back
October 30th, 2009 - 1:53 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Oct 30 (ANI): Australian fat bowler Brett Lee wants his place back in the Test squad despite national selectors not being sure about his abilities.
Lee lost his place due to an ankle surgery and was then prevented from regaining it in England due to a rib injury. At present, Lee who is in India with Australian ODI squad is having an elbow problem that may keep him out of the third limited overs match.
“I still want to play Test cricket, definitely, I’m not sure there’s any other way to answer that, I want my spot back and I’ll be doing everything I possibly can to get my spot back,” Lee said.
“I’m as hungry as ever to get back in that Test team. The only thing I can do at this point is prove I’m bowling fast and taking the wickets and other than the game I missed (in Nagpur) I’m hoping I’ve done that.
“I was pleased with how I played in England, pleased with the Champions Trophy and even more pleased with how I did in the Champions League. I want to have a big series here and it’s up to them if they want to choose me or not,” The Brisbane Times quoted Lee, as saying.
Describing himself as a “young 32″, Lee said the money and dazzle of Twenty20 and one-day cricket still paled next to his deep affection for Tests.
“I don’t think I can ask any more of my body, I’m still only young, yes I’m 32, but I keep saying I don’t feel 32,” he said.
“Yes you will have your niggles as a fast bowler, but I still want to play a lot more years of cricket, and definitely be playing at Test level.
“One-day cricket and T20 of course that’s always been thereabouts, but Test cricket for me is where it’s at,” he added. (ANI)
