Yankees & Phillies compete in the 2009 World Series

- Bronx, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 2009 World Series will be the 105th edition of Major League Baseball’s championship series. The best-of-seven playoff will be played between the Philadelphia Phillies, champions of the National League (NL), and the New York Yankees, champions of the American League (AL). The Phillies are looking forward to become the first team to repeat as World Series champions since the Yankees did so during the period 1998–2000. The Yankees are also looking forward to extend their major-league record with a 27th World Series championship.

The 2009 World Series opens on Wednesday night in the Bronx. Major League Baseball said the games are scheduled for first pitch at 7:57 PM ET, except Game 4 on Sunday, with first pitch at 8:20 PM ET.
The whole series is going to be a closely awaited contest of wits and enormous fan base too.
