Yankees Parade Route 2009

November 6th, 2009 - 1:34 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Tell a Friend -

New York, Nov 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) New York City will celebrate the Yankees’ 27th World Series title with a celebration parade on Friday. They are going to follow the traditional route, which is towards Broadway. Yankees old-timers Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera would know the parade route as well as the back of their hands.

The celebration parade will start at 11:00 am from the Canyon of Heroes till City Hotel. The Yankees successfully defeated Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 and won the World Series 2009. Yankees had also won it in 1998. They had a celebration Parade then also, along almost the same route and more then 3 million fans attended that parade to celebrate their team’s win in the World Series.

The newly elected New York City Mayor, Michal R Bloomberg, will present the keys of the city to the Yankees team at City Hall Park.

It has been reported that, ‘the management has decided to open the sideways of the parade route for the enthusiastic public to witness the historic parade more closely. The big screens have been placed at different spots of the city to telecast the full coverage of the parade citywide too’.

to describe the traditional route as “toward Broadway” is absurd. It is “on Broadway”. Since Broadway is twelve miles long in Manhattan, and hundreds of miles long overall, the route has to be further defined by saying: “from Battery Park to City Hall” along Broadway. “Canyon of heroes” is not useful term for this purpose. “Opening sideways” is likewise meaningless. Elementary writing skills are lacking.

    City Hall not City Hotel
