arod Tampa Mar 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alex Rodriguez, hitter for the New York Yankees, was involved in a small accident in Tampa Florida, while driving his $400,000 Maybach. He was reportedly driving up to the Yankee spring training camp, for a press conference, and although there were rumors that he was texting while driving, his spokesperson denied those rumors to the New York Post, and added, “There were no injuries and Alex is fine.”

When he was asked about the accident, which occurred on Thursday, Alex laughed and seemed to think it was funny that there was any attention at all drawn to the incident.

“I wouldn’t even call it (an accident),” Rodriguez told the Daily News yesterday. “I was going about two miles per hour. It was a fender-bender. You couldn’t even tell on my car. There wasn’t even a scratch.”

According to Rodriguez, the incident occurred very early on Thursday morning, about a block away from the Steinbrenner Field parking lot where the players are said to park. He did not give any more details about the accident but was seen on the back field taking ground balls at about 7 am that morning, without any evidence of having injuries from the occurrence. A Tampa police employee stated that they did not think there had even been a police report taken.
