alc Minneapolis, October 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The baseball match between the Yankees and the Twins saw the former emerging as the victor. Sunday match was important for both the teams.

The finals score of the match read 4-1 which indicated Minnesota Twins’ defeat as well as elimination from the series. This is not the first time that the Yankees have played a role in eliminating the Twins from the series. Earlier in the year 2003 as well as 2004, the Twins got eliminated from the series by losing against Yankees.

With this win, the Yankees have moved a step toward their American League championship series title. New York Yankees in the previous years too tried to grab the title of the American League title but failed. This year they would give their maximum effort for winning the series.

The players of Yankees played well from the beginning and did not give Twins much opportunity to win the match. Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez played significant role in the match against Twins. Their home run in seventh innings of the game made the Twins to accept defeat in the game. Left hand pitcher, Andy Petite also helped the Yankees to record a victory upon the Twins. Most of the time he dominated the match and eased the work of his team mates.

The win against Twins had brought the Yankees closer to the championship title. They have been close to the title in their previous years but could not get it. Yankees have a strong line up this year and their offense is much better than many other teams of the league. To win the championship title, they would have to keep up their performance in the coming games.
