Xavi wins Man of the Match
July 8th, 2010 - 3:38 am ICT by IANSDurban, July 8 (DPA) Barcelona midfielder Xavi was named Man of the Match Wednesday as Spain defeated Germany 1-0 to reach their first ever World Cup final.
Xavi set up Carles Puyol’s 73rd minute matchwinner to deny Germany the chance of reaching the final.
His curling corner from the left was met by the onrushing Puyol, whose powerful header left German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer no chance.
