WWE Monday Night RAW: 900th Episode 10 Man Elimination Match!
August 31st, 2010 - 11:50 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonAug 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first episode of WWE’s Monday Night RAW aired on January 11, 1993. As the nine hundredth consecutive week of WWE Monday Night RAW began last night, live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, ‘Brett “The Hitman” Hart’ walked out to the ring of the longest running program in television history. Brett was there, seventeen years ago when a new show debuted called ‘Monday Night Raw’ and he said he wondered himself at the time if it would catch on. “I was there for that very first show. There is only one other wrestler who is still here who was with me back then, and that’s ‘The Undertaker’.”
Brett was interrupted at that moment by Kane, the Undertaker’s brother who is currently in a bitter battle with ‘The Dead Man’. “The Undertaker,” Kane said, “There is no Undertaker anymore…thanks to me….” He went on to degrade the Undertaker and uplift himself. Kane then attacked Brett and placed him in a choke-slam. Brett’s teammates, ‘The Hart Dynasty’ defended him, and suddenly ‘The Undertaker’s’ bell began to toll, as the Dead Man walked out to the ring.
The general manager emailed in at that moment, and stated that in honor of the 900th episode, there would be a Main Event befitting the occasion. Brett Hart vs The Undertaker. Neither man looked very happy about the decision.
A triple threat match which included ‘The Miz’, ‘Kofi Kingston’, and ‘Daniel Bryant’ along with their NXT trainees came next. And ‘The Miz’ won the match for his team with a three count. ‘Melina’, along with ‘Eve Torres’, came out next and won quickly over ‘Layla’ and ‘Michelle McCool’ of “LayCool”. Laycool challenged Melina to a Unification Match at ‘Night of Champions’, and if Laycool wins, then the Women’s Championship and Diva Championship will be unified. Melina agreed, only if it is a lumberjack match.
‘John Morrison’ and his tag team partner, ‘R-Truth’ came out to the ring to battle with ‘Dashing Cody Rhodes’ and ‘Drew McEntire’. R-Truth and Cody Rhodes started things off, and all four contestants were soon in the ring together. A free-for-all ensued, and the match was called off due to a double disqualification.
As ‘Brett Hart’ came out to meet ‘The Undertaker’, in a match set by the elusive general manager of RAW, these two veterans, giants who are the only two wrestlers left on the show who were there seventeen years ago, when the very first RAW aired, faced each other with respect, and dignity that far surpassed that seen in the newer generation.
Suddenly ‘Wade Barrett’ of ‘NEXUS’ came out and announced that the match was not going to happen, because no one wanted to remember the 900th episode with two legends, they wanted to think of the future, and the future in RAW is Nexus. Wade planned to take The Undertaker down, but Taker quickly began to beat Barret down. The lights went out, the Undertaker’s Bell tolled, and Kane was suddenly in the ring, fighting The Undertaker, Brett Hart had vanished.
The lights went out, the bell tolled, and Kane was gone. Then the rest of NEXUS came out and surrounded Taker. Taker was beating them all, and the lights went out, the bell tolled and Kane was looking on as all five members of NEXUS were beating Taker down. Kane laughed as his brother lay helpless on the ring floor.
‘Jack Swagger’ came out to inform everyone once again how wonderful he is. ‘Evan Bourne’ came out to the ring to show everyone that Swagger was not as great as he thought. Their match ensued while Alberto Del Rio drove his Bentley out to the ring, and has his own ring announcer proclaim his arrival.
After Swagger won, Del Rio told everyone that because of him, ‘Rey Mysterio’ would not be there. He then proceeded to use Evan Bourne to demonstrate how he had broken Ray’s wrist on Smackdown. And ‘Mark Henry’ rushed out to the ring like a charging bull, causing Del Rio to run away in fear.
CM Punk, and his followers “The Straight Edge Society” came out to show everyone why RAW has been a bad example for family values over the years, citing, among others, excessive alcohol consumption by ‘Stone Cold Steve Austin’. He also used ‘The Rock’ and others. Just as Punk was stating that everyone in the audience would mortgage their homes and pay good money to see Stone Cold come out and spray beer all over Punk, Austin’s music began, only to end up as a joke by Punk.
Just as CM Punk chose to show another clip, and make fun of ‘The Big Show’, the Big Show came out and insulted Punk. Punk told Show, “You’re not funny and nobody likes you.” Show told him that he was mean, and once Punk hurt Show’s feelings, the fight was on. Show ran everyone off.
The night ended with a “5 on 5 Tag Team Elimination Match” with Sheamus, John Cena , Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Edge vs. The Nexus team of Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver and Justin Gabriel. As ‘Team Raw’ prepared to face ‘The Nexus’, Sheamus and Edge were very much at odds with each other, and the ring announcers, ‘Jerry “The King” Lawler’ and ‘Michael Cole’ expressed their hopes that the men from Team Raw can co-exist long enough to win over Nexus.
Jericho was the first member of Team Raw to step into the ring, and he turned, and walked away, deserting his teammates. Edge soon followed suit, leaving Sheamus, Orton, and Cena in a 3 on 5 match with Nexus.
Sheamus was taken down, leaving Cena and Orton in a 5 on 2 match with the remaining 5 Nexus members. Cena quickly took Slater out of the equation, leaving 4 Nexus members against the 2 RAW warriors. Cena took out yet another member of Nexus just before being eliminated by Gabriel. That left Orton and 3 Nexus members. Orton quickly took out two of the remaining Nexus members, but was taken down by Wade Barrett, and Nexus wins the match.
