wsopThe World Series of Poker 2009 has begun a few days ago amidst a lot of aplomb and it is well on its way now. After a small gap of two days, its back in to functioning. There are around 185 players left to be able to participate in the main event. As the day 6 of the event drew to a close, another lot of 121 players were ousted from the challenge. Its now down to the last 64 players.

What has been most shocking is that some of the big names in the game has bid farewell to this year’s championship, among who the names of former WSOP world champions like Joe Hachem and Peter Eastgate feature most prominently. So, in all, poker fans have had a share of good as well as bad news during the event. At the closing of the seventh day, 27 players remain in the loop of the game.

Till now Phil Ivey and Darvin Moon have both had a excellent run at the game this year; in fact Ivey has emerged as the most feared player in WSOP 2009. Moon is right now in the top slot of the leader board with the maximum number of points. He defeated David Benyamine. He has much to fear though, as Billy Koop and Ivey follow him closely.

As reports by Poker News seem to suggest, the former TV star Michael Greco has had his best stay at the World Series of Poker, better than any former TV star. Unfortunately for him, he had to bid adieu to the main event when in the early stages of day 6 his run came to an abrupt halt.
