World Cup final: Netherlands 0 Spain 0 after 60 minutes
July 12th, 2010 - 2:50 am ICT by IANSJohannesburg, July 12 (DPA) Both teams came out unchanged for the second half. A quick move between Andres Iniesta and Xavi was snuffed out by the Dutch defence, which prevented the Barcelona midfielder from getting in his shot.
Spain had the first chance of the half when Puyol headed on to Pedro, who was unable to connect from five metres out.
Gregory van der Wei then linked up with Van Persie, but the Arsenal forward pulled his shot and it flashed past Casillas’ goal for a goal-kick.
The sixth yellow card of the match went to Dutch captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst for pulling down a Spanish player making a run at goal. Villa took the free-kick, but fired the ball narrowly over the bar.
The Dutch picked up their fifth yellow card when Heitinga chopped down Villa near the touchline on 57 minutes.
