World Athletics: Bolt fastest in 100m heat
August 27th, 2011 - 9:44 pm ICT by IANSDaegu (South Korea), Aug 27 (IANS) World record holder Usain Bolt sprinted to a win in his 100m heat at the World Athletics Championships here Saturday.
The Jamaican, wearing the number 588 in lane 4 of Heat 6, slowed down with 30m to finish first in 10.10 seconds. The timing, though, was way behind his season’s best of 9.88 seconds.
“People will think I can run a fast time but I am just here to defend my title and show the world that I am still the best,” Bolt, who has been going through a sluggish form told Channel 4.
Dwain Chambers was second and will be joined in the next round by team mates Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Marlon Devonish.
The 100m final will take place Sunday.
