Tiger Woods Wisconsin (US), Aug.13 (ANI): Tiger Woods grabbed a share of the early lead at Whistling Straits with birdies at three of his first four holes on Thursday.

According to The Sun, it was the first time he has been at the forefront of golf since his return to the sport at The Masters in April after taking a five-month break following revelations over a string of extra-marital affairs.

But it could not last, of course. Woods stumbled after that flying start and signed for a one-under-par 71, three shots behind early pace setters Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari.

Molinari does not look like relaxing his grip on an automatic Ryder Cup place - and the Italian ace could be joined by his brother Eduardo, who did his chances of a wild card no harm with a composed 71.

Woods also needs a big week to clinch a spot at Celtic Manor, as this is the final qualifying event for the USA team.(ANI)
