New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) Global event management agency Wizcraft International has acquired the Delhi franchise of the World Series Hockey (WSH) — the team will be called Delhi Wizards.

Delhi Wizards will be led by ace Argentina striker Lucas Vila and will have one of the world’s best coaches Roelant Oltmans of the Netherlands as their coach.

Sabbas Joseph, Wizcraft International director, announcing the decision to join WSH, said: “We see tremendous opportunity in sports in terms of business and more importantly in building a loyal fan base. We have been associated with marquee sports events like the ICC World Cup 2011, Indian Premier League and the Commonwealth Games.”

Wizcraft has been instrumental in shaping the event management and brand activation industry in India.

The other three teams confirmed so far are Karnataka Lions, Chennai Cheetahs and Pune Strykers.

The WSH will be held from Dec 17 to Jan 22, 2012 and will involve 200 leading players — Indian and international — who will showcase their talent in 61 matches.
