Windies Test player Morton arrested
March 14th, 2011 - 12:17 pm ICT by ANITrinidad (West Indies), Mar. 14 (ANI): Former West Indies Test player Runako Morton has been arrested, though the reason for this development is yet to be disclosed by the West Indies Cricket Board.
A statement issued by the WICB said that Trinidad and Tobago batsman Morton and Leeward Islands all-rounder Tonito Willett were picked up by police after the first day of a four-day Caribbean regional match being played at the Queen’s Park Oval.
“Trinidad and Tobago batsman Runako Morton and Leeward Islands all-rounder Tonito Willett are expected to take no further part in the four-day match,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted the West Indies Cricket Board as saying in its statement, without giving further details.
“They were taken into police custody sometime between the end of the first day’s play and the start of the second day’s play of the Trinidad and Tobago v Leeward Islands match. They remain in police custody. The WICB will make no further comment on this matter at this time,” the statement added.
Morton has played 15 Tests, 56 ODIs and seven Twenty20 internationals for West Indies. He played his last Test in 2008 and he has not played a one day international since February 2010. (ANI)
