Wimbledon: Bhupathi-Mirnyi ousted, Paes-Black advance

London, June 29 (IANS) India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus, seeded fourth, bowed out of the Wimbledon doubles third round in a tough five-setter 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(6), 6-8 to 16th-seeded Robert Lindsted of Sweden and Horia Tecau of Romania.
Meanwhile, second-seeded India’s Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe have entered the third round of mixed doubles with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Czech pair Martin Damm and Vladimira Uhlirova here Monday night.
Paes and Black next play Igor Zelenay of Slovakia and Alicja Rosolska of Poland.
The loss of Bhupathi and Mirnyi Monday night, leaves Rohan Bopanna the only Indian competing in the men’s doubles, who with Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, entered the quarter-finals.
