The Williams rivalry (on court) has been observed a lot in the past. Nine years ago they faced each other in the finals which was penned down as an uncomfortable one. Since then both the sisters have evolved, showing maturity every time they were pitted against each other. Expressing her views on the finals, Serena Williams said, “The more we play, the better it gets. You know, when we play our match on Saturday, its for everything.” The final will mark the sisters fourth meet in a Wimbledon final and eighth in a grand-slam title.

Prior to the final, both the sisters won in a contrasting fashion. Two time Wimbledon title holder, Serena Williams defeated Elena Dementieva 6-7, 7-5, 8-6 in a 2 hour 49 minutes match putting it down in the history books as the longest woman’s match in a Wimbledon semi-final since 40 years. On the other hand, five time Wimbledon Championship holder Venus defeated Dinara Safina 6-1, 6-0 in order to place her berth in her eighth Wimbledon final. The match with Dinara lasted for a mere 51 minutes.

Expressing her views on Serena, Venus said, “Even if she is not playing at her best, just the fight she has, you are facing that. So there’s so much to face when you play her. It’s definitely a lot to get your mind around.”

This should be another nail biting final as the two sisters battles for the title on the grass court.
