andruwNov 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to the sources, the Chicago White Sox have reportedly drafted outfielder Andruw Jones following a one year contract deal for $500,000 along with the option of getting $1million as a bonus based on his performance. The signing in of Andruw Jones marks the second instance in a week that the club has signed in an aging player. Jones, the 32 year old outfielder has been struggling for some time to regain his lost form and stay in the circuit.

As per the reports, Jones career graph has been on a steady decline since the player left the Braves in the 2007. The drafting of Jones to the Chicago White Sox gives a subtle hint that the player would fill up the extra outfield spot and the DH spot. Although not at his very best, White Sox believes that the experience of Jones would initiate the teams performance. “This is an opportunity to add a power bat to the roster while improving our outfield depth. With the addition of Andruw, Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel, we feel that our bench is taking shape to a strong asset,” says Ken Williams, the general manager of Chicago White Sox. With so many experienced players being drafted in the team, the only problem they could face is regarding the age factor. Jones is already 32 years old and is still struggling to regain his long lost form.

As history beckons, Jones was a five-time All-Star and ten time Golden-Glove winner during his stint at the Braves. He was then drafted to the Dodgers. As of now Jones boasts 388 career homers.
