West Virginia Mountaineers Wins Over Marshall University Football Team During Overtime

west1Sep 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Friday night, despite some amazing show on field, the Marshall University football failed to manage a win and was defeated by the West Virginia Mountaineers with scoreboards reading 24-21 in the favor of the latter. The West Virginia University team, that was seen trailing behind by 15 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter came up with some great play posting a tie at the end of it at 21. Dragging the game into the overtime, the Marshall University team was outlasted by the West Virginia team that was able to go for a 20-yard field goal.

On Friday, the Marshall University team tried to break its usual underdog image and undoubtedly came forward with some great play from the beginning. The West Virginia could manage to score only six points while the Marshall University went for 21. However, the game took a dramatic turn in the fourth quarter when the West Virginia drove more than 90 yards twice for a touchdown. Geno Smith went for a 5-yard touchdown toss to Will Johnson just 12 seconds before the end of the game. The game was tied for an overtime at 21-21 when Geno Smith threw to Jock Sanders in the back of the end zone.

It was during the overtime that the West Virginia University team got the lead and marked the end of the play. Tyler Bitancurt of the West Virginia University team added those crucial points to the team’s score by completing a 20-yard field goal. On the other hand, Marshall University’s Tyler Warner missed a 39-yard attempt wide right sealing the victory in favor of West Virginia University.
