West Ham United tipped to beat Tottenham Hotspur in London Olympic Stadium bid
February 10th, 2011 - 4:43 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 10(ANI): West Ham United is reportedly set to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the bid for the Olympic Stadium in London.
The decision, on who will move into the stadium after the 2012 London Olympics, will be taken by the 14 voting members of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) board, who will gather in London on Friday for a special meeting.
However, it is believed that the OPLC executives have decided that the offer from West Ham United, which would retain the athletics track, is better than Tottenham’s bid, the BBC reports.
Tottenham plan to create a football-only stadium, and redevelop the athletics stadium at Crystal Palace instead.
London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe is among those calling for the track to be kept in line with promises made to the International Olympic Committee in 2005.
The meeting could take up to three hours, and a final decision will have to get the go-ahead from the Government and the London Mayor. (ANI)
