Sydney, Nov 5 (ANI): Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber has hit out at his Red Bull team for favouring his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Webber lies second in the drivers’ championship, 14 points ahead of his teammate with two races left.

Webber told The Guardian that his success this season has been inconvenient for his team.

“I think I wasn’t supposed to be in the hunt at all, so it’s been maybe quite inconvenient, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” Webber said.

Red Bull have denied all season that they favour Vettel, but, when asked if his team was behind his younger teammate, Webber said: “F—ing obvious, isn’t it? Of course.

“When young, new charges come on to the block that’s where the emotion is. That’s the way it is,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

Webber, who is 11 points behind Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in the drivers’ standings, said he did not expect Vettel to support him at the Interlagos track this weekend.

Webber courted controversy in July after winning the British Grand Prix by publicly accusing his team of favouritism after a new wing was removed from his car and fitted to Vettel’s. (ANI)
