London, Apr 7(ANI): Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said that he feels powerless to stop racist chanting after being targeted by a section of Tottenham Hotspur’s travelling fans in Madrid.
Adebayor was singled out by the travelling fans following his three-and-a-half-year spell with Arsenal.
Tottenham fans are reported to have sung “your dad washes elephants, your mother’s a whore” during Madrid’s 4-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday.
“Players better than me have tried to stop racism, but it’s not easy,” the Daily Express quoted Adebayor, as saying.
“We have done everything to show the red card to racism, but people are still into it. That’s life, we can’t do anything to totally stop it,” he added
A club whose supporters are deemed guilty of racist chanting can be fined a minimum of 20,000 pounds. (ANI)
