2369 Wayne Rooney has been issued a warning to keep his cool during the World Cup 2010 which is to be played at South Africa. Reportedly, the English striker was issued a red card at the last World Cup which turned out to be a severe blow for England.

It was on Monday when Wayne Rooney once again brought bad name for the English Football squad while they played against the local club Platinum Stars. This was the final warm up match for England where the English players defeated Platinum Stars by 3-0. Wayne Rooney apologized to the match referee Jeff Selogilwe at the end of the match. Jeff Selogilwe warned him to keep control on his temper while England plays in the World Cup.

The referee told the media that he admires Wayne Rooney as a player but he also underlined the fact that Wayne Rooney should be careful while he is dealing with other referees in the World Cup.

He said that such abusive words if uttered on more than one occasion can pull him out of the tournament, which won’t be good for the player as well as his team. Speaking on the same line was fellow team member Jermain Defoe who said that Wayne Rooney could outshine his own self if he keeps his anger off the ground.

The player says that both he as well as Wayne Rooney are looking forward to their first match in the World Cup and as time passes by, they are getting impatient.

England shall face United States in a Group C match which kicks off on Saturday.
