Oct 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Trevor Gretzky who is the son of Wayne Gretzky, the National Hockey League’s ace scoring leader has decided to play baseball next year at San Diego State University, reports have confirmed. As of now he is gearing up for the senior season at the California based Oaks Christian High School. He made .341 along with a couple of home runs as a junior first baseman. His father is nothing short of a stalwart in the realms of Hockey. Now the young Baseball aspirant will get the training and necessary guidance from Tony Gwynn. The latter is a Hall of Fame legend and he coaches baseball at the San Diego State University. It will be great for him to get guidance from such a maestro at such a young age.
However, it was reported earlier this month that the coach of the San Diego State University has been diagnosed with cancer. The coach is not much perturbed with the fact and he said in a recent interview that it will not put a stop to his coaching. San Diego State is known for churning out several noted athletes like Stephen Strasburg. It is expected that the young Gretzky will like the place.
Trevor Gretzky played quarterback for Westlake Village Oaks Christian High football team and there he came across a number of the children of other celebrities earlier. Among them the son of Joe Montana, NFL stalwart and Trey Smith the son of ace Hollywood actor Will Smith deserve mention. However, his legendary hockey player father has not said anything on the career choice so far.
