Melbourne, Mar 31(ANI): Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has said that he is “surprised” and “thrilled” to be appointed the national team’s vice-captain, and also insisted that he can handle the added the responsibility of leadership.

Watson will be Australia’s vice-captain in all three forms of the game - as Michael Clarke’s deputy in Test and ODIs and back-up to Cameron White in the Twenty 20 format.

“I’m definitely going to have to make sure I find the best way to balance everything that is involved in my role in the team. But I feel as though my game is in a really good place now - it’s not as high maintenance as it was a few years ago,” Fox Sports quoted Watson, as saying.

“For me, if this was going to come along, it’s come at a perfect time because I’ve got a lot of mental space and physical time to be able to put into it now because my body is not as high maintenance as it was,” he added. (ANI)
