Washington Wizards new logo New York, May 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The new owner of the Washington Wizards, Ted Leonsis, has changed the logo of the club in just 11 months. It usually does not take anything less than two years to change the logo of an NBA team but Ted indicated from the start that he want the change to be faster than that.

The change was finalized on Tuesday. The new colours of the Washington Wizards will be the colours that the team used before the club’s name was changed in 1997. The team’s new colours are red, white and blue and they are influenced by the colours of the United States.

Ted made it clear from the beginning that he will want the club to bring back the past in terms of the new look. The team’s apparel sponsor, Adidas, was very influential in effecting the changes.

The new logo of the team has the words “dc” with what looks like a hand throwing a ball just above the “d.” The new jersey of the club was also unveiled. It has horizontal stripes of bright blue and navy blue with red and white blended to it.

Ted said the club “should pay appropriate homage and respect to the past, to the tradition, and what the Pollin family built, but also have that modern twist on what we want to accomplish as a group together.”
