Washington Redskins Guard Russ Grimm Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

gtimCanton, Ohio, Aug 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former Washington Redskins guard Russ Grimm was enshrined at the Pro Football hall of Fame, becoming the 18th member of the team to join the much-coveted list of players bestowed with the recognition. The ceremony which took place at the Fawcett Stadium at Canton in the state of U.S. Ohio was graced by some of the yesteryears most prominent names in the National Football League. The ceremony was attended by the major media entities.

Russ Grimm’s induction was definitely a momentous occasion for the Washington Redskins as he is the first player from the team’s well-known “Hogs” offensive lines to have been inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The large number of attendees of the enshrinement ceremony cheered boisterously when Russ Grimm went up stage and said that he was sharing the award with the rest of the members of the “Hogs” offensive lines. A number of his former “Hogs” teammates were among the audience when ex-Washington Redskins offensive line coach Joe Bugel introduced the former guard which was followed by Russ Grimm being honored with the award. On multiple occasions during his acceptance speech, the ex-Washington Redskins referred to other members of his team’s “Hogs” offensive line and noted that his achievement would not have been possible without the contribution of the entire group.

Russ Grimm who was considered to be one of the most outstanding guards of his times. He was one of the pivotal members of the those blocking units which enabled the Washington Redskins to register victory in three Super Bowls in the 1980’s and the early 1990’s.
