robSep 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The next time the Washington Nationals take the field, the fans of the team will not get to hear the familiar voice of commentator Rob Dibble criticizing and analyzing the moves of the players. The Washington Nationals announced that it has fired Rob Dibble from its team of broadcasters following his controversial and offensive criticisms and remarks on rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg. The news was confirmed by Rob Dibble who on Thursday read out his apology on air in SIRIUS XM show on MLB Network Radio.

Stephen Strasburg was guided off of the field last week after he complained of elbow pain following a pitching. Rob Dibble then commented that the player should have continued with the play ignoring the pain. He held that a player cannot have “cavalry come in and save your butt every time you feel a little stiff shoulder, sore elbow”. The statement not only angered the fans but also the management of the Washington Nationals. Stephen Strasburg had reportedly torn elbow ligament during the pitching and will have to undergo surgery to correct it. Reports claim that the injury will keep the player out of the field for around 12 to 18 months.

That the Washington Nationals’ management was angered by the comments made by Rob Dibble and was planning to take a drastic step became clear from the commentator’s absent from broadcasting booth of MASN. On Thursday however, the commentator went on air at SIRIUS XM show to acknowledge his mistake and held his comments were inappropriate. He mentioned that he has realized his mistake but is saddened by the end of his association with the Washington Nationals.
