Warne says he thinks about playing ‘whenever Ashes comes around’
November 18th, 2010 - 1:27 pm ICT by ANISydney, Nov 18(ANI): Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has suggested that he can come out of retirement for the upcoming Ashes series against England.
“Of course, I think about playing whenever the Ashes comes around,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Warne, as saying.
“It’s hard not to, but I honestly haven’t rolled the arm over since the end of the last IPL season, and I don’t even know if I’ve got an IPL club to play for this year,” he added.
The 41-year-old spin king further backs off-spinner Nathan Hauritz to have first crack at the Poms ahead of left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty.
“I think Nathan’s got the edge, I think Nathan’s the No. 1 spinner,” Warne said.
Warne is slated to play in a Twenty20 match to commemorate the centenary of St George Cricket Club.
Famous Australian Test cricketers who have represented the Sydney-based club include Donald Bradman, Bill O’Reilly, Ray Lindwall, Arthur Morris and Norm O’Neill. (ANI)
