Warne says Coach Buchanan was a `goose with verbal diarrhoea’December 21st, 2007 - 3:56 pm ICT by admin
Melbourne, Dec.21 (ANI): Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has described former Australia coach John Buchanan as a “goose” with “verbal diarrhoea”.
In an interview with the Herald Sun, Warne said that the Australian people, administrators and ex-players and ex-coaches, needed to stop the arrogant mindset that characterises Australia, and that the country and its people are better than anybody else.
He said that when he was in the team and Buchanan was the coach, he disagreed with him all the time.
“I disagree with John Buchanan all the time. I don’t think he has made one good point in a long time, actually. Everything that I have read that he says, he is living in pixieland. It just shows what us players had to put up with John Buchanan. We had to listen to his verbal diarrhoea all the time. He is just a goose and has no idea and lacks common sense, and you can put all that in there,” Warne was quoted, as saying.
When asked whether he would be interested in getting further involved with Australian cricket, he said he would love to work with young and emerging spinners, and also captains.
“I believe I have a lot to offer and I can help in these areas. I am looking into different things about setting up my own cricket academy where a lot of countries can send their captains and spinners and I can work with them,” he said.
“We are looking at different bases. It’s going to be more like a workshop than an academy. We will talk cricket, field settings, captaincy, how to approach things, attitude to cricket, attitude when you are bowling, working on fields, how to be aggressive, how to read certain situations, ” he said.
Buchanan would not comment last night over Warne’s claims. (ANI)
