WAGS ready to help England players fight boredom
June 21st, 2010 - 1:42 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jun 21 (ANI): To rescue England’s struggling players from boredom, WAGS are standing by to fly to South Africa.
England footballers had urged boss Fabio Capello to allow them to see their wives and girlfriends, as the team is feeling bored and restless after their 1-1 draw against the USA.
Star players like Wayne Rooney, 24, Steven Gerrard, 30, and John Terry, 29, could finally be with their wives if given the nod by Capello.
The Italian boss has banned WAGs from South Africa until England make it through the group stage next week.
“We have table tennis, darts, snooker and the pool. But between lunch and dinner is about six hours and there is a little bit of boredom kicking in,” John Terry said on Sunday.
So the stars’ wives and girlfriends are preparing to fly out to cheer on their men at Wednesday’s win-or-bust Slovenia clash, The Sun reports.
Captain Steven Gerrard’s wife Alex, said: “If he phoned me and told me to get to South Africa I’d be on the next plane. It’s my job to lift him up and make him feel positive.”
Capello believes WAGs such as Crouch’s girl Abbey Clancy, Rooney’s wife Coleen, and Gerrard’s wife Alex Curran, would turn England’s campaign into a repeat of the “circus” in Baden Baden in 2006. (ANI)
