WAGs Ashes ban may backfire for England, says Watson’s wife
October 30th, 2010 - 4:46 pm ICT by ANISydney, Oct 30(ANI): Australian all-rounder Shane Watson’s wife Lee Furlong has laughed of England coach Andy Flower’s decision to bar his players from seeing their wives and girlfriends (WAGs) for the first five weeks of their tour to Australia.
The first Test is on November 25, but the squad will not be allowed to see their families until after the second Test in Perth, scheduled to finish on December 7.
“I think England need all the help they can get. I guess I don’t think [WAGS] are a distraction. I hope not,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Furlong, as saying.
“I think it’s good for the guys to have as much normality as they can and I generally try and spend as much time with [Watson] as I can,” she added.
Furlong, a Fox Sports presenter, will also get to spend time with Watson following his recent signing with the TV channel for offering unique insight into some of cricket’s biggest issues.
“I get to see him now when I go to work. He has been home for a bit too so we’ve had some quality time together,” she added. (ANI)
