Sep 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although the agent of holdout wide receiver Vincent Jackson said to media sources that the player has in place multiple deals with other well known teams, the player continues to be the property of the San Diego Chargers. Neil Schwartz, who declined to divulge the names of the teams who had approached him, mentioned that he had been contacted by multiple general managers. The agent held that it is the “wholly unreasonable” compensation that San Diego Chargers are asking as compensation for Vincent Jackson that is keeping the teams from entering into a trade. A.J. Smith, the general manager of San Diego Chargers was not available for comments.
Neil Schwartz said to media sources that many general managers, interested to induct Vincent Jackson in their teams, have complained that the San Diego Chargers are asking a huge compensation for the wide receiver who is a Pro Bowl player and has the credit of the two 1,000-yard seasons. The agent said that one general manager even said that it seems that A.J. Smith was “squatting” on Jackson.
Neil Schwartz even went on to reveal that he has already drawn up legal papers with one of the teams and the player is only needed to read and sign the document. Although Neil Schwartz declined to reveal the name of the team, he held that it has offered a one-year deal with an option to Vincent Jackson. Under the deal, Vincent Jackson will reportedly receive an average salary of more than $9 million. As Vincent Jackson failed to sign a contract by 4 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, he would now need to finish his three-game suspension of which he was sentenced after he was found guilty of violating the substance abuse policy NFL.
