New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) Vijay Singh, who admitted to looking for new business opportunities in India, during his visit for the Johnnie Walker Classic, however seemed to give India a thumbs down on return. Fijian Vijay was speaking to the media in Orlando, where he is defending the Arnold Palmer Invitational title at Bay Hill. He shot a five-under 65 to follow on his first 64. He was nine-under for two rounds and was leading the tournament.

The former World No. 1 who has once come earlier to India to play a Skins event finished way down in the pecking list at the event won by Kiwi Mark Brown. Vijay said he was struck down by flu and lost 18 pounds on return. He, however, gave no idea of what he ate.

Vijay, whose origins are in India, said: “I tried to eat clean and drink bottled water and it didn’t work. Caught a cold, as well, and I got a flu and got a stomach virus. So both things were not very good.”

A reporter asked: “Where would you lose 18 pounds? I don’t see it; what, in your shoes?” Vijay replied, “I’ve got a very heavy shirt on. I can see my ribs.”

Vijay said he lost all that in less than a week. “In a week, five days. I don’t know, I just came back on Monday and just never left the bathroom for four days. (Laughing) It’s not nice, but I got over it.”

He also said that for the first time, he did not practice.

“It was almost a forced rest, you know. I got home Monday morning and first time I hit the balls, literally I thought I was going to pull out of this tournament, but on Friday I just started to hit a few. And that was it.”

“I weighed myself at the hospital; I was 196, and I was about 218, 216, somewhere there,” he said.
