Vice President inaugurates conference on spinal deformity
October 2nd, 2008 - 7:40 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi , Oct 2 (ANI): Vice President M. Hamid Ansari inaugurated the Scoliosis Research Society Worldwide program on Spinal Deformity: Current Concepts here today.
Ansari said, The subject of this conclave is factually and figuratively a part of our being and therefore inseparable from human condition and human health.
Advances in medical science have helped us identify spinal deformity as a medical condition capable of being treated, said Ansari, and added, As a result, today it is possible to straighten a crooked spine through surgical intervention.
He further said The bulk of these cases relate to children and adolescent and their timely treatment allows these patients to regain confidence and resume their normal place in society.
Over 300 spine surgeons and researchers from different countries are participating in the conference.
It is for the first time that such a conference is being held in India .
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Indian chapter of the Scoliosis Research Society have organized the conference. (ANI)
