The 17-year-old Khan closed in further with a birdie on the tenth, a hole that Verma bogeyed.
“Just four strokes separated us at this stage and thankfully I birdied two of the next three holes to get back into a comfortable position,” added Verma.
Verma began his round with a birdie and studded his card with three more on the 11th, 13th and 18th. His card contained bogeys on the second, third, tenth, 15th and 17th and a double bogey on the eighth.
