venusRoland Garros, France, May 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Whose attention did Venus Williams want to attract in Roland Garros? The tennis fans or the fashionistas? This is the question being asked by one and all ever since the older of the Williams sisters was seen on the clay court in a ‘illusion-nude’ outfit. It is true that Venus Williams has come out of the shadow of Serena Williams. Serena Williams was always the more dominant of the two Williams sisters, in game or in fashion, but this year’s French Open showed otherwise.

The 2010 Roland Garros tournament saw Venus Williams slamming her opponents to snatch the win in almost every game. However this was not the reason that made her popular in France this year. When asked by the media about her outfit which she had worn in her winning game, Venus Williams answered that “illusion” is the motif which she is currently sporting and that was why she rounded up on the chosen outfit. However she has also announced that she will probably never wear the same dress again in any other match. The dress has surely landed her in controversy, but it is also true that the same dress was also her victory dress and as long as the wins keep coming, there is hardly a chance for the lady to shed the skimpy outfit!

Critics are of the opinion that the 29 year old’s choice of costume is bizarre to say the least. The tennis player almost forgot that she was on a court and not on the ramp. The flesh-colored knickers peeping from under the all- revealing layers did not go down well with the audience in Paris who are still talking about her dress and not her game.
