Venezuelans miss practice as kits are misplaced
September 1st, 2011 - 12:06 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Aug 31 (IANS) The Venezuelan team had to do without match practice as their jerseys and the kits got misplaced in transit at the Madrid airport.
India’s national football club Mohun Bagan tried to come to their rescue.
“When we came to know that they don’t have their kits with them, we sent our jerseys. But as the Mohun Bagan jerseys had logos of a soft drink, so they rejected it,” Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said.
Sporting the Mohun Bagan jerseys with the logo would have violated the ambush-marketing clause for the team.
The organisers rushed to the Maidan Market to ensure alternative arrangements as the team was scheduled to practice Wednesday evening. But it was already too late.
