Vasco hold Ar-Hima goalless in Federation Cup
September 10th, 2011 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Sep 10 (IANS) Goa’s Vasco Sports Club spent anxious moments before managing to finish goalless with Ar-Hima in their preliminary phase opener of the Federation Cup football here Saturday.
Meghalaya’s Ar-Hima enjoyed territorial advantage and created several chances, but poor finishing was their undoing as they bowed out of the tournament with one point from two games at the Howrah Stadium.
On the other hand, Vasco goalkeeper Agnelo Noronha was the star of the show as he pulled off three fine saves in the Group A game.
Vasco, on one point, now take on Kolkata’s Mohammedan Sporting at the Kalyani Stadium to decide the Group A Champions. Sporting who sit pretty on three points had got the better of Ar-Hima by a solitary goal in their first encounter.
