Madrid, Jan 21 (DPA) Spanish giants Valencia are poised to sign veteran goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez, according to media reports.Premier League club Tottenham have, apparently, agreed to sell the contract of former Spanish international Cesar to Valencia, for an undisclosed fee.

Casar, 37, has hardly played for Tottenham since joining from Zaragoza six months ago.

Valencia have been looking for an experienced keeper since Sunday, when first-choice Renan tore muscles in his left thigh in the 3-2 defeat away to Athletic Bilbao.

Renan, 23, will be out of action for up to two months, leaving the inexperienced Vicente Guaita, 22, as the club’s only keeper.

Valencia will not officially announce the signing of Cesar until he has completed medical checks, probably on Wednesday morning.

Cesar started his career at Valladolid before joining Real Madrid in 2000. He was understudy there to Iker Casillas, before moving on to Zaragoza in 2005.
