Valencia buy Gago from Real Madrid
July 20th, 2012 - 9:00 pm ICT by IANSMadrid, July 20 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Spain’s Valencia football club have signed Argentinean midfielder Fernando Gago from Real Madrid.
Gago now wants to break Real and Barcelona’s Spanish domination in La Liga.
Gago made 92 appearances for Real in five years and spent last season on loan at AS Roma, where he was a regular starter.
“I’ll try to help my team, try to play as much time as possible and try to win,” Gago said in a video posted on the Valencia website.
“My objective is clear - to win titles, I like to win and I’ve won several titles throughout my career, so I don’t want to stuck in the dead end where I don’t win anything.”
Gago, 26, has 38 caps for Argentina and usually plays as a defensive midfielder.
