Uttar Pradesh lead in National Bridge
December 4th, 2011 - 9:04 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Dec 4 (IANS) Unfancied Zugzwang from Uttar Pradesh led the field with 74 Victory Points (VPs) after the third round of the team event for the Ruia Gold Cup at the 53rd winter National Bridge Championship here Sunday.
Zugzwang were followed by Bimal Sicka’s team from Maharashtra and Nalco from Orissa in joint second position with 66 VPs each.
Nest Inn from Tamil Nadu and Indian Mavericks from Delhi, with 65 and 62 VPs respectively were fourth and fifth, ahead of another local team Invincibles (58 VPs).
Among the noted teams runners-up Poddar Developers from Mumbai and Texan Aces from Tamil Nadu were seventh and eighth place with 59 and 57 VPs. While last year’s winners Formidables from Delhi, strong contenders Indian Railways and Dhampur Sugar Mills from were further behind with 52, 50 and 40 VPs respectively.
In the Ruia Silver Cup for the lesser rated teams T Boses IV and Samadhan Bridge Academy were leading the field after round three with 71 and 66 VPs.
