Usain Bolt wins 100 metre dash with a world record

Beijing, Aug 16 (IANS) Jamaica’s Usain Bolt tore the record books to become the fastest man in the world. Usain clocked a breathtaking 9.69, a world record, to win the 100 metres dash at the Olympics here Saturday. The Jamaican made a mockery of his much-hyped rivalry with Asafa Powell as he finished way ahead of the pack.

Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago took the silver with a personal best of 9.89 seconds while American Walter Dix finihsed with a bronze in 9.91 seconds, leaving Powell nowhere near the podium finishing fifth.
