US star feels England all but out of FIFA WC
June 20th, 2010 - 6:38 pm ICT by ANILondon, June 20 (ANI): Watford defender Jay Demerit has poured scorn on England’s woeful World Cup, saying they were too easy to wind up.
The Watford defender is convinced his USA team will stay in the tournament on Wednesday. But he is not sure England have the bottle to join them in the knockout stages.
“If you put world-class players under pressure, you stop them doing what they want,” said DeMerit.
“We did that against England and a lot of teams are thinking the same way. It’s about testing reputations. That’s more or less what’s happening with England and why their players are struggling,” News of The World quoted him, as saying.US coach Bob Bradley admitted he would be following every minute of the England-Slovenia game in Port Elizabeth while his team take on Algeria in Pretoria.
