Urquhart tames Joshna to win WISPA Squash Championship
April 23rd, 2011 - 9:17 pm ICT by IANSChennai, April 23 (IANS) World No.16 Donna Urquhart of Australia lived up to her billing as she defeated Indian champion Joshna Chinappa 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 in 37 minutes in the final of the WISPA Squash Championship at the Indian Squash Academy Courts here Saturday.
Joshna, ranked 36, raised hopes of an upset win when she took the first game, but thereafter, the Aussie took charge to win in a canter.
The Indian, who had beaten Urquhart in the NSC Grade 3 championship in 2009, committed far too many errors under pressure while the Aussie looked far more relaxed.
Urquhart said: “After losing the first game, I tightened up my serves as Joshna was able to return well. I am happy that most often I succeeded with my double boasts and was able to push to the corner to score points.”
