Urban Meyer Stepping Down As The Head Football Coach Of University Of Florida

Urban MeyerDec 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The renowned head football coach of University of Florida, Urban Meyer is stepping down and he would coach the team for the last time in Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. On Wednesday, the athletic director of Florida University, Jeremy Foley announced that the veteran coach would be stepping down as the Florida Gators’ head coach following his completion of the 2010 season. The university of Florida has released a statement where it was stated that Florida Gators’ coach and the university athletic staffs met at a press conference where they announced about Urban Meyer’s stepping down.

Urban Meyer said in his statement that he had been a football coach from past 25 years and all these time his primary focus was to make difference in the lives of young men. He said that he has been fortunate enough to have coached football team and building television programs. Jeremy Foley said that Urban Meyer called him on Saturday to tell him about the latter’s retirement. However, the duo met on Tuesday to finalize the things. Jeremy Foley said that Urban Meyer put his soul into the college football.

Jeremy Foley said that Urban Meyer is not ill but he has taken this decision so that he can spend time with his family. He also added that the former coach is in total peace with his decision. Urban Meyer released a statement for the University and wrote that he has performed all his duties that his profession demanded. However, now he feels that it is the time he should focus on his family life as well. The head coach said that he needs time for himself and hence he has decided to spend time away from the field.
