Unemployed Brit man gets work after holding ‘Give me a job’ sign in rain!
July 24th, 2010 - 5:14 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jul 234 (ANI): Unemployed Mark Wheeldon, who stood in the rain with a sign pleading: “Give Me A Job”, got himself one after spending three hours standing on a roundabout.
Mark, 23, was so sick of living on benefits after two years of unemployment that he got up at 5 a.m., made his placard, and stationed himself on a busy roundabout.
After three hours in a torrential downpour, he was surprised when company director Vince Champion stopped and drove him to his office for an interview.
Just 20 minutes later, he had been given the job making frames at Vince’s timber factory, The Sun reports.
Ex-mechanic and painter Mark of Newcastle had been out of work while caring for a former partner who was ill.
He said: “I’d looked everywhere for work but had no luck - so I thought I may as well go down and stand by the traffic. I wasn’t put off by the rain. If you’re desperate you’ll do anything for a job. I was over the moon when Vince stopped. I’m really enjoying the job. My bosses are great and I look forward to building a career.”
Vince told how he spotted rain-soaked Mark beside the A500 last Wednesday. He said:
“Not many unemployed people would have done what he did. I was impressed by his determination. He’s fitting in brilliantly.” (ANI)
