Under-19 World Cup: India thrash Hong Kong by nine wickets
January 17th, 2010 - 4:02 pm ICT by IANSChristchurch, Jan 17 (IANS) Defending champions India registered their second consecutive victory in the under-19 World Cup with a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Hong Kong at the Hagley Oval here Sunday.
Opting to field, Indian bowlers packed off Hong Kong for 143 runs in 33.5 overs. India made 147 runs in 24 overs with openers Rahul Kannaur scoring an unbeaten 63 and Mayank Aggarwal 63.
Earlier, medium pacer Sandeep Sharma and left-arm spinner Gaurav Jathar picked up three wickets each to wreck the Hong Kong batting.
Hong Kong captain Jamie Atkinson was the top scorer with 39 while Mark Chapman and Waqas Barkat made 27 runs each. Lower order batsman Aizaz Khan offered some resistance, scoring 23 off 11 balls.
