New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): Steve Davis today stands in his 100th One-Day International as he takes charge of the World Cup 2011 fixture between India and Netherlands in Delhi, joining an exclusive club of officials who have been involved in that many matches.

Davis (58), who is part of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, made his international debut on December 12, 1992 in a match between Pakistan and West Indies in Adelaide.

Davis has continued to be one of the top match officials in the game and umpired at the World Cup 2007 and the Champions Trophy in 2009.

“I am extremely proud and honoured to have reached this milestone. I can’t quite believe that I am already at that landmark figure and it’s fantastic to be reaching it at an ICC Cricket World Cup,” said Davis.

Commenting on Davis’ milestone, ICC Umpires’ and Referees’ Manager Vince van der Bijl said: “Steve is well respected and liked by his colleagues, the players and administrators for his humour, friendship, considerate nature as well as his professional approach to umpiring.
